Biomass Allocation and Root Characteristics of Early-Stage Poplars (Populus spp.) for Assessing Their Water-Deficit Response During SRC Establishment

چکیده

Abstract Early above- and belowground biomass fractionation, root diameter composition allocation of cumulated fine length per total leaf area Populus clones have been measured for a pre-assessment the risk plantation establishment during spring drought conditions. Four × euramericana , one P. nigra maximowiczii clone (cv. Max 3), were planted in sandy mix substrate exposed to normal deficit watering regime over 65-day greenhouse experiments conducted early summer. The hybrids showed plasticity their fractions. Although 3 was among productive clones, even under watering, it not able respond plastically watering. It no increase fraction ratio area. Therefore, should be high drought. Planting investigated water likely involves lower risk, but differences within this group must considered. can concluded that response roots unit is suitable traits improve assessments are based on yield poplar Percent plant loss data at end first SRC rotation will verify present assessment.

Early root development of poplars (Populus spp.) in relation to moist and saturated soil conditions

Poplars (Populus spp.) are among the fastest growing trees raised in temperate regions of the world. Testing of newly developed cultivars informs assessment of potential planting stock for local environments. Initial rooting by nine poplar clones was tested in moist and saturated soil conditions during an 18-day greenhouse experiment. Clones responded differently to soil moisture, particularly ...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Heterosis of biomass production in Arabidopsis. Establishment during early development.

Heterosis has been widely used in agriculture to increase yield and to broaden adaptability of hybrid varieties and is applied to an increasing number of crop species. We performed a systematic survey of the extent and degree of heterosis for dry biomass in 63 Arabidopsis accessions crossed to three reference lines (Col-0, C24, and Nd). We detected a high heritability (69%) for biomass producti...

Barcoding Poplars (Populus L.) from Western China

BACKGROUND Populus is an ecologically and economically important genus of trees, but distinguishing between wild species is relatively difficult due to extensive interspecific hybridization and introgression, and the high level of intraspecific morphological variation. The DNA barcoding approach is a potential solution to this problem. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS Here, we tested the discri...

Populus biomass protein-protein interactions and their functions

Proteins are molecular machines that play roles in almost all biological activities through interactions with other molecules such as carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids and other proteins. We are mapping protein-protein interactions relevant to woody biomass production by focusing on proteins co-expressed in poplar secondary xylem. In addition to revealing novel regulatory mechanisms importan...
